What’s The Difference Between Vinyl and PVC Blinds?

Times have changed a lot and it’s not just technology that’s come on leaps and bounds, so has the blind industry there’s so much to choose from. The choice of materials are endless from cloth to plastic and wood to aluminium, there’s a blind for your home which can adapt to any environment whether it be your bathroom, kitchen or conservatory.

Because there’s so much to choose from, sometimes people can get a little confused. We get asked a lot when people come to browse what’s the difference between vinyl blinds and PVC blinds?

Vinyl and acrylic are not as different as you think, they are not completely different and bear a lot of similarities but they are not identical or the same if you like. Vinyl is in fact a name we use to cover a large range of plastic materials, the correct term is polyvinyl chloride, so we put PVC into a category classing it as a lone type on vinyl.

PVC was made accidentally, but has quickly become material for most construction projects as it is durable and has strong attributes. PVC is from the vinyl family but are kept separate and sold as separate materials, PVC is also the most popular type of Vinyl and the chosen choice for construction jobs or projects.

Here at Tailors 4 Blinds we have found over the years PVC has become one of the favourite choices of materials for blinds. PVC is hardwearing and lasts for a long period of time. It doesn't warp (bend) as easily as wood or faux wood, it’s also water resistant making them a perfect choice for bathrooms, kitchen and wet rooms. They are one of the easiest materials to clean and maintain a damp cloth and a light dust usually does the trick.
